If you are a Windows Vista user then you are very likely to be familiar with the concept of Base Score. This score is calculated based on the computer’s hardware and software configuration. This score act’s as a rating to your PC. If you have a too low base score then don’t worry. Hacking Windows Vista’s so called Base Score is very easy. It is possible to hack this score in just a few minutes. Here are the snapshots of my own system. Actually my system’s base score is 3.7. But I have brought it up to 9.5 with this small hack. This can be done for your computer too!

Here is a step-by-step instruction to hack the base score of Windows Vista:
-
Type the following command in the “Run” dialog box:
%systemroot%\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore
-
You should see a .xml file with Assessment (Formal).WinSAT as filename.
-
Right-click it and select open with ‘Wordpad’ (Not notepad!)
-
On line 12, you should see something like the following:
<SystemScore>9.5</SystemScore>
<MemoryScore>9.5</MemoryScore>
<CpuScore>9.5</CpuScore>
<CPUSubAggScore>9.5</CPUSubAggScore>
<VideoEncodeScore>5.5</VideoEncodeScore>
<GraphicsScore>9.5</GraphicsScore>
<GamingScore>9.5</GamingScore>
<DiskScore>9.5</DiskScore>
-
You can enter any number in the place where I have written 9.5. But the number should be less than 10.
-
Once you have entered the number of your choice save the file and close it.
-
That’s it. You have successfully altered your Windows Vista base score. No restart is required.
[alert-alert]Please note that this trick will neither improve the performance of your system nor will make your PC compatible to run Windows Aero UI. This is just a hack to display a bigger base score.[/alert-alert]

hey there,
well i tried that, but its working outs…so i think you should update it or something…but i really like the work done, highly appreciated..
@ hackerKid
You might have edited the file
Assessment (Initial).WinSAT file
But u have to edit
Assessment (Formal).WinSAT
It perfectly works…no problem at all
moe says
heyy..wen i tried to save wath i edited..they told me acess denied ..how can i fix it ?
@ moe
This happens because you do not have the permissions to edit the file. For this you need to take ownership of the file. For a detailed instruction on taking ownership
search in goole “take ownership in vista”
If you find problem in searching I’ll assist you…
after taking ownership retry the whole procedure it’ll work…
moe says
thx it worked very well 🙂
I edited the file as mentioned in the post but neither it worked on Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0 build 6001 nor on Windows 7……
all I got was that “Windows Experience Index: Unrated”
@ Slim0123
It should work.Analyze the post and previous comments and see where u hav gone wrong
I tried again but this time instead of different values, I gave 9.5 to each, only then it worked, when I tried to give some realistic values like 6.5, 7.9, etc, it just render my computer unrated and does not show any rating…….

i was also being denied access and i just went into properties and changed the permissions and it worked fine after that, so if anyone else has that problem that might help you too.

i wonder why someone would WANT to hack their performance score. its there for your own benefit to tell you the performance of your computer. changing it is just like lying to yourself. you really dont GET anything out of it, except to giggle and say ” huhhuh, duhhh, i gotted 9.5 on my celleron! Huhhuh!”
dips.
this makes as much sense as writing “IM FAST! HONEST! like a VIPER!” on the side of a kia hatchback. all your doing is diluding yourself.
Mogster says
Why would someone want to do this? Well besides the cool factor to your friends “Dude, look at my score!” lets say Windows is reading your hardware wrong and not enabling Aero because it says your video is 1.0, or in my case your on a Hyper-V with Windows 7 Virtual Machines and it won’t score at all or Vista Virtual Machines also only show 1.0 and won’t enable all the features for beta testing.

This hack is retarded… If you want to boost your base score, then go out there and buy better parts for you computer. Nothing cool about having a 9.5 when you computer performs at 1.0…
PEyN says
Let’s say u wanna sell ur PC, and want to get little more for it. I guess it could work… hehe!
Jed says
hey brow… is there posible to work in windows 7 nor or not..?
plsss.. reply cozz my rating is very low…
cozz my rating is “1.0”
shadow says
heyyy guyz… is there any posibilitis of this hack will work in windows7?
anonymodude says
it works on windows 7, there was another name for the file though, i forget, but it is in that folder…it should have the time and date of the assessment, (choose the latest one)… should say ‘assessment formal’ or something like that, should say formal though
i have windows 7 ultimate rtm build 7600, i should know
by the way, i have real rating of 4.6, hacked and got rating of 7.1… since windows 7 maximum rating is 7.9, thought it might make it look realistic!!! 🙂

Whats the point of this then? “Oh yeah look at my base score that does absolutely nothing to help me.”…..
